Message: Let me ask you this. Who will feed my daughters kids when half of her check goes to Health insurance? Health Insurance is a luxury not a right. And the Father quits his job so now she gets no help. Come on get real you had better quit drinking your bong water. "

The question was in response to her daughters ex quitting his job and not providing health insurance. Her daughter has it available through her work but thinks she should be able to put her kids on state aided health insurance.
My opinion is that if the dad is forced to put the kids on health insurance the mother should also have the kids on insurance if it is offered through there work.
Would you say this was an abuse of the system? People need to become more independent and stand on there own two feet and not expect to be held up because they don't want too do it on there own. I think if people tell the man to get two jobs.....

to support his kids cause he says it is to much for child support and all the fixings shouldn't it be the same way for the mom. She made them just the same. People should be doing everything they should to stand on there own two feet not leaning on the governement.

First of all, the dad needs to be held responsible for his half of the care. In most states, quitting a job to lower your support obligations is illegal so he my not be off the hook financially.

Secondly, mom needs to understand the rest of us (taxpayers) have children and housholds to support also. So, don't ask us to pay for something she won't work for herself.

because as of 2006 for every dollar that passes thru our hands, 88 cents goes to the government directly or indirectly, and 12 cents goes to the product we are purchasing. In addition, over 40% of the population works for our government, in one of the following: Federal, State, County , or Municipal. That means less than 60% of the American population supports our government.

That's what happens when the economy is in the toilet.

learn to understand some principle conception before accept any suggestion is a great idea. Here is great place to start.http://health-insurance.online-tips4u.in...

God will get you through it. I mean people always think the gov. will be there if they fall but it isnt always there.

cause people r 2 lazy 2 do stuff themselves

Society and tradition has dictated that the man of the family is the provider for the family.

when the man stops working or is out of the picture except for child support then the mother should be including health care from her job to help take care of the children.

I am the bread winner in my home. I've practically always been that. For a while I was primary care-giver without a job, but I resolved that quickly by getting a degree and putting myself back in the job market. Again now I am the one working outside the home. It is just practical, I can make more money.

I would say it is taking advantage of the system. If more people would take care of themselves and use less medicaid, then the insurance premiums would go down because the doctors would not charge more for non-medicaid patients because they would make enough money to pay for the meds and equipment they need to help people stay healthy. It's all the same. The government has provided a sense of entitlement in so many people that there are fewer and fewer who are like you and I, those who believe we are supposed to take care of that which we've created.

I have 5 kids that I got through school. On very little income, but I maintained health care for most of the time. I wanted to be sure my kids were taken care of.

Daycare is expensive and if it is a toss-up, I'd rather stay at home and not work than to pay someone else to take care of my kids. There should be rules that both the mom and dad are responsible for healthcare, but not in such a way that they both have to carry it. If I pay $150.00 a month for healthcare for my family, that X-hubby should be responsible for $75.00 of that. He should help pay for all the care of the child/children. He should never be able to just quit his job and anyone with any consideration would not quit just to get out of paying for their offspring.

I agree that people should stand on their own 2 feet. If it were not for Herbert Hoover, there would be fewer illegal immigrants and deadbeat dads and deadbeat families with their hands out because the entitlement would not be there.

The United States is not responsible for my well-being. I am.

If she has health insurance available through her employer, she is not eligible for state medicaid programs. Also, the father has support obligations. They do not abate just because he quit his job. Who is her attorney in the divorce & child-custody/child-support agreements? The attorney can take the father back to court to enforce the agreements, and the court can give him so many days to get a job and start catching up on his child support obligations.

Since people have discovered that they can vote themselves benefits from the public purse, people start looking to that for this, that and the other, always figuring (erroneously, of course) that "the other guy will pay." It always leads to the destruction of the country unless those "benefits" are terminated and the country gets back onto a pay-your-own-way philosophy.

I can understand where you are coming from, but have you ever had kids? Do you know how expensive it is? When my 3 girls were young, I stayed at home for quite awhile. It became hard for us to pay the bills, so I got a job. Do you know how expensive it is to put three girls in the daycare? By the time the daycare got its fair share, I had $25 left out of my check for the week. What was I supposed to do, get another job, so I can pay another babysitter, and then get $25 more dollars for the week?

You said the mother and the dad should both carry insurance on the kids when the parents are divorced? Do you know how expensive that would be? Sure, it may be offered through the work, but it's still about $300 a month, if you're lucky and the company is paying for part of it. So, 2 people paying $300 a month for insurance is unconscionable.

It's true, some people really do abuse the system, but some people are truely doing their best. I should have stayed home with my girls for a bigger part of their childhood. All kids go through their troubles, but it is better for someone to be home when they are at home, even if it means a little welfare. In this respect, the government is saving money if the kids are being raised right. They have some direction in life.

As for the lady in the letter, she is probably sick and tired of her x being lazy. But in the same respect, she doesn't need to delay getting her kids on her insurance if she can afford it. The important thing is the kids.
