Is this law suit appropriate?

Cows stampeded when a walker took her dog across a field that had cows with suckling calves.

I know its very sad, but surely if you go into a field full of cows and calves you know to be cautious, don't you ?

And to take a Jack Russell, known as "yappy" dogs, into the field...isn't it common sense that you would spook the cows ?

Of course it might be that I'm a genious, and something that seems common sense to me is way beyond normal human thinking, but i doubt it.

The reason I ask this is because the 拢1m lawsuit will nail the farmer to the floor. Even if his insurance covers him, the whoel local farming community will pay via higher premiums

Is that appropriate, or should the walker take some responsiblity for her actions ?

Its not like she lived in an inner city and had never seen a cow, she lived in the local village.

Next time you cross a field and find a board with 400 rules, it'll be because of this.

Poor farmer. I don't think it's fair that he has to suffer just because some fool decides to take their dog into someone's field. Maybe 'common sense' isn't so common anymore.

I don't see how there can be a successful lawsuit against the farmer. The woman with the dog was trespassing and in my opinion she should suffer the consequences for doing so.

I grew up on a farm and we had 55 cows. We always walked in the pastures with our dogs. Cows are not aggressive. If they get spooked because someone was where they shouldn't be, it's not the farmers fault. There is no law suit because that person was on private property.

I think that the walker should take some responsibility as well.
The lawsuit probably won't go anywhere.
