In America are these laws exploiting children(girls) or protecting them?read below:-)?

There are laws that protect the privacy of young girls when they visit the Emergency rooms/hospitals/Doctors for pregnancy testing. These laws say that a minor who is getting a pregnancy test should have a full privacy from her own parents. The Doctor can not bill the parents who are mostly the policy holders for insurance.
The minor has a right to sign their own consent for treatment for the visit and the health facility or the state pays the bill.

Is this protecting them or giving them a chance to do more wrong? having sex at such a young age and destroying their lives without the parents knowledge?
what do you think?
For me I think it is corrupted these girls can be from between the ages of 13 to 18.

It is the same here.....(The Netherlands) doctors have to take the Hypocratic oath and keep that under all circumstances....... even when it concerns youngsters.
A child of 12 can get birth control pills without her parents ever knowing, can have a pregnancy test, without them ever knowing. It's under the 'medical secret'.
I think this is a horrible situation. I believe that the medical secret shoud not be held for underaged people.
An underaged person close to me was addicted to harddrugs. Once he went cold turkey during the holidays. His parents did not know about this, they never had experienced addiction before, they thought he was dying with tummy aches.
Anyways, he was taken to the doc who knew full well what was going on. He never told the parents...... the person went down hill very, very fast........ is now a full blown junkie, living on the streets. The parents asked the doctor when they found out what was really going on (years later) why the doctor had not been honest...... the answer? 'I was bound by my medical secrecy'!! B***!!!!!
Children have too much rights when it comes to this. How are we supposed to protect our children from the bad things in society when they are protected by the medical profession and we can't help them before it's too late?

The service is billed thru the parents insurance but coded.

There are free clinic. But since your daughter can spend just a few bucks and get a test at the grocery store that is exactly the same as wha the doctors use... what is the issue

children are given too many rights if you ask me.

It depends on a lot of circumstances. But for me I think that it should start in the home. Kids in the states get there info from everywhere but where it should be coming from.

Parents are getting better though. But societies views on sex are not. So what are unguided children to do. When their parents are too busy for them and society which basically raises them halfway tells them everything the wrong way.

I think there should be definite contact once those kids enter the hospital and the parents need to be aware. It should be a requirement after a certain period of time. I really don't know cause this society is so messed up.

And you know what they get even younger than 13. There should be more counseling in schools and parents need to get more involved in their childrens life, like basically down their throats but from a far. I have two girls and a boy and though they are young toddlers still, they tell me everything which happens in their day. and InshAllah I want to feed that urge to express themselves with me. It's never too early to early to educate your kids about somethings this society is confused about.

I am a parent and I had my daughter when I was 16. I do not have an issue with this (although I am Canadian and not American). My daughter is now 14, so she would be at an age where something like this could happen. I would like to think that I have educated her properly and that if she were in some kind of trouble, she could come to me for help.

Giving them rights is important as there are circumstances in which the pregnancy could have been a result of a rape or sexual abuse by a family member.

There are far worse things that young people can be doing. Having a child out of wedlock is not the end of the world.

That's just my opinion though.
