I feel that I was at the bad end of reverse racism? |
I went into a doctors's office at 9:40am even though my appointment wasn't until 10:00 am. They had me fill out initial patient records since I had never been there. While completing my paperwork they asked for my drivers license and insurance card. I gave them my occupational drivers license (which I currently have issued by the state of TX) and my prescription card telling her that I couldn't finh ny UHC card but that I could call and get the information they would need. She told me that I would need a picture ID which I provided. She (the office manager) then stated I would need to pay up front before I saw the doctor. I Yeah, she sounds racist. I'm African American and sometimes I'm around other African Americans who don't realize they're being just as racist as a Caucasian person who doesn't like African Americans. I do agree that she treated you wrongly but makes sure there's enough evidence before you throw around the word "racist". Sometimes people are just mean and they'd treat everyone like crap regardless of your race . . . Report Abuse My friend was once unjustly called a racist by her own kind. When she told them her real ethnicity, they apologized. Ridiculous, huh? Anyway maybe that lady was racist but just be careful. Report Abuse I can understand, them wanting thier money upfront if you were seeing a doctor from another state, alot of time first time patients do have to pay upfront, but still that manager had no right to do that, call better business bureau, they may be able to help you. more then I can, yeah...that's becoming more and more common now. I used to live in Houston and I was made fun of a-lot in middle school because I was caucasian and not mexican. It's weird and screwed up...but you can't stop it. no you r white so n our society no one does any rong to you it is all your fault. but really this is rong. report it to the bbb (better buisness beuro) and the can handle it. small claims court might be to far tho We can't tell if you displayed an uppity attitude from here, so...find another doctor if you feel you've been discriminated against. I believe you have been hurt and unnecessarily . The person who dealt with you needs to be retrained in the Job . I don't think so. Money is money. Well, it's possible they didn't care much for a white person coming in. But the real problem is that in the medical profession, you're seen as a "patient" rather than as a paying customer. The average doctor's office usually has such an overabundance of patients, that they can afford to disrespect and kick out anybody they don't happen to like. No other type of business would throw you out just because you made a complaint, because they would worry about losing you to a competitor. But somehow, doctors and their staff always have more than enough business no matter how shi++y they treat people. |
