I have an alarm system and a permit? Urgent advice needed.?

So my house got robbed yesterday. The alarm system went off, the call went through to the monitoring station and they refused to send out the police telling me i had no permit. The robbers left with all my property with the alarm still sounding and still the monitoring company would not despatch the police. I have since been told it was a technical error and that oh yes I did have a permit. They will not return my calls. What can I do? I have been paying them monthly for my alarm system and I paid for my yearly permit. Basically they messed up. Not a phone call, not an apology and they will not speak to me. The police have told me to sue them? Has anyone else had this happen? The police finally came out two hour s after the buglary which they said if they had been called they could have been at my house and possibly have caught them now I am left with a broken door, carpentry expenses an insurance claim and all my stuff stolen. How can they be allowed to take no responsibility HELP!

What is BBB? something Bureau? Oh and I am meant to be locked into a 3yr contract with them? I don't think so do you!!!

Wow. I would call a lawyer. That is scary! Change companies ASAP!

I would sue them. Both for the value of the property that was stolen and for the all the money that you've been paying them, when they didn't even do their job.

They're not returning your calls because they are scared shitless. They know they screwed up real bad.

Take this to a lawyer. This is potentially a HUGE case, and I'm sure that any lawyer would love to take the case.

What was the technical error? A power failure? Or somebody asleep at the switch. To file a claim you need to prove the alarm company was negligent. You need to speak with a lawyer.

Take your contract and your receipts to a lawyer. He can determine if you can sue and for how much. Seems like someone at the alarm company screwed up. You could also try making a complaint to the BBB.

That really sucks! Who is your alarm company? They should be repsonsible for your claim. They were given the authority by you to contact the police as soon as that alarm went off. They screwed up. To me, I would sue the hell out of them for damages, breech of contract, and what ever I could spit out of my mouth. That is an invasion of privacy--some schmuck going into your house and taking your personal stuff. Since you lost a lot of diamond jewelry, electronics, (get my drift?) they should be liable. You are going to have to look at your contract and see what the agreement was that you signed. It wasn't a malfunction, it was an error on their part.

According to ADT, they will pay your homeowner's insurance deductible up to $500 in case of burglary. they don't say what happens when it's their error.
