How long after an accident should an adjuster contact you? |
I was involved in an auto accident last tuesday. Nothing major but did do some damage to my car. The person who hit me called their insurance company and filed a claim on the spot. I was given the claim # and told they would contact me. 4 days later, still didn't hear from them. I called and left messages and still, 7 days later, cannot get the adjuster on the phone. Am I expecting too much or should this have been handled by now? Call the 800 number for the insurance company. Give the operator the claim number (or policy number if you have it) and ask to speak with the claims representative. Then ask them when they are scheduling the inspection for the property damage done to your vehicle. You are not expecting too much. An adjustor should have contacted you within a couple of days. If you are not at fault, and another party's insurance is paying the bill, you can really hurry them a long by getting in to a rental car. Take your car to a reputable repair facility that you trust. Give them the claim info and have them help arrange a rental for you. Let the shop deal with the insurance company. Once the insurance realizes that you are in a rental, they will be out to handle the claim within hours. Don't allow yourself to be pushed around by these crooks. If you are a claiment in CO you are entitled to a rental car at the insureds expense. I'll take a wild stab and say that you are dealing with either Progressive, Allstate, or Farmers. The 3 biggest scammers in the game! 5 to 7 business days...call state ins commisioner |
