How can I find out if my employer is obligated to abide by COBRA without asking? |
I think I'm going to quit, but I want to keep my insurance. And I don't want them to know, but asking about COBRA is a dead giveaway. COBRA is available whether or not you quit voluntarily or were fired for cause. If you were eligible for insurance before leaving the job, you are eligible afterwards. COBRA is for those that are laid off, fired or separated from employment unvoluntarily for some reason. COBRA does not apply to those that quit. COBRA is a limited time, and quite expensive, insurance. I have had it offered when laid off but not sure about if you quit. |
