Sued by insurance company for kid hurt in my back yard? |
can an insurance company get money from me if a child was playing with my child in my back yard and he hurt himself? his mother came over and said we would be receiving "papers" from their insurance company. what does this mean? i rent and i don't have renter's insurance You'll have to wait for the papers. They may just want to get details about the property and the incident. If you rent, then the family of the child would probably have to sue the owner of the property -- not you -- unless they can porve that you were negligent and/or caused the accident. You are probably of the hook. People who sue generally go after the property owner. Report It Papers could mean that they were medical bills incurred and that they want you to pay for them. Your homeowners insurance should cover everything. Contact you agent and let them know what is happening then forward the papers to them. If needed, they should provide you with legal representation if necessary. Their insurance company wants someone to pay the bills, simple as that. Your homeowners insurance will cover it, that's their job. When you get the papers, send them on to your insurance agent, they will take care of the rest, including fighting the case in court if need be.. if they have medical insurance why dont u ask them nicely not to sue u. dont associate urself with those kinds of ppl anymore |
