Driving law in California?

My drivers license is suspended in Texas due to a no insurance ticket. The suspension only shows up in Texas, here in California I just don't have a license. My question is: if I get caught driving without a license, what are the penalties? I am getting insurance on my motorcycle and getting it registered, so I'l be completely legal-- minus having a valid drivers license. I have no other choice other than to do this because I've found it's impossible to find decent work (so I can pay off the fines and surcharges) without using a vehicle.

catching a ride with coworkers would be fine-- IF I HAD THEM. I've been riding a bicycle around for three months,as well as riding a bus, looking for work. When asked about my transportation situation, I say bike and bus, that isn't considered reliable transportation. I need a good job to pay off the fine-- $5000 total.

Driving without a license is not a tremendously serious charge. However, any competent prosecutor is going to find out that your driving privilege has been suspended, and driving while your driving privilege is suspended (even in another State), is a very serious charge. You need to take care of the Texas suspension. In general, people cannot be punished for being poor, so there may be some wiggle room in Texas--but you will need to discuss that with a Texas attorney with traffic expertise.

hefty fines, vehicle confiscated and possible jail time IF they find out your license was suspended elsewhere! Been there myself friend, and I would say you should take care of everything BEFORE you get caught!
If you end up in the Dakotas, there are some real good jobs up here! CA sucks if you are looking.... That's why I left!

Driving without a license will not only get you jail time but will also invalidate your insurance coverage, so you will be paying premiums for nothing. You should pay a co-worker's gas money to drive you to work until your fines are paid off.

get your license in california thats the only way to be truely legal

You could get a serious fine.

I agree w/the 2nd answer.
