Legal recourse for medical bill?

June 2007 - Called dental specialist on referral for gum surgery procedure. Received price $X

July 2007 - Called back to discuss options received new lower price $Y

October 2007 - Called back to discuss options received new lower price $Z.

November 2007 - Had treatment. Day of treatment paid difference between projected insurance coverage and price $Z.

May 2008 - Received bill from dental specialist for thousands of dollars. Spoke with billing rep and was told employee that was working in Nov. not authorized to charge price $Z and this was the correct price. We owe difference between insurance coverage (which was as expected), previous payment, and new total price of procedure.

May 2008 - Continued discussions with billing rep providing no help. Maintain the previous employee was wrong but its our problem now.

Unfortunately, I do not have the initial price ($Z) estimate in writing. Do I have any legal recourse to avoid additional payment for new price?

No. Unless you can prove it, you have to pay the full price.
