Is it in my best interest to report this accident to the police?

This morning I got into a car accident. Well, it was more of a fender bender. Anyways, the short story is that it was my fault and the other party鈥檚 car was physically damaged, but it was drivable and we both drove away from the scene.
We just swapped insurance and personal information. Right after the incident I called my insurance company to report it.
My question is should I call the police and file a report?? Like I said, it was my fault (but I didn't say that right out to the other people!). And I assume they will file a report today or within a few days. But should I go and file as well??

A police report should always be made at the scene.

It doesn't sound like you are going to contest that it was your fault and it the other car was drivable so your insurance will probably not be doing much of an investigation and just pay it out.

It all depends on if you really want it documented in a police report ( that it was your fault)

I wouldn't

Depends on the laws in your state. In most states, you are required to report any accident in which there is any injury or any damage over a certain dollar amount. If in doubt, just report it, it can't hurt.

Yes. Accidents are to be reported within 24 hours.
Your insurance likely will need the report in order to pay any claims to the other driver.

Yes,

you should ALWAYS call the police after any accident no matter how minor.
