Sued For Car Accident in Ontario Canada? |
I got served with papers the other day regarding an accident I had with a man back in December. It was my fault. He didn't have any serious injuries, he went to the hospital and was released right away. He is claiming he can't work due to back pain from the accident and that he can't "Do handyman chores around the house and has to pay someone else" Forgot to mention-my insurance company is hiring the lawyer and taking care of everything. Will I have to repay the fees if I lose? Exactly, just send the S&C that you were served to your insurance company, and they will take care of it. You won't have to pay their attorney's back, this is what insurance is for. They may raise your premium, but just like the representative told you, they won't know how much until after the settlement or trial is complete. You may be called in for a deposition, but that will be further down the line. You will not have to pay, however they may raise your premiums or cancel your policy. But they are on the hook for the costs of this accident. You will not have to pay any of the attorney fees, your insurance company will take care of it, however you will see a definite increase in your premiums. No, you won't have to repay, but your premiums might go up, if they haven't already. |
