Stop insurance from sending info about my doc. visits to my parents? |
I am on a policy that my father holds. Is there any way i can prevent my insurance company (UHC) from sending info. about when I went to the doctor, how much the claim was, to my parents? I live at a different address, am an adult, and really don't want all this information going to them that is my own personal information. Adults pay for their own insurance. call them and ask if there is a signed HIPPA release from you,.if there is not hten tell them they are breaking the law by sending information about your medical care, which is priviledged information by law, to a person you havent authorized to receive your medical information. that shouold stop the papers, also make sure your address is on the policy correctly. The only way to fix that problem is to get your own insurance. Remember your father is the cardholder, you are a member on his insurance. His insurance is responsible for paying your claims and because he is the PRIMARY member he will continue to receive your claim or eob or whatever it is that he is receiving. I don't see what the problem is, your not paying the bill so, who cares what he see's.. Remember the claims have all medical terms which really don't say much about what is going on w/you. It's not your personal information until it's your insurance policy. Hopefully the doctor's office isn't giving out information, but the insurance company works for your parents, not for you. if youre an adult, then be one, get your own insurance. You can ask the doctors office to change your mailing address in their system. You're on his policy - he gets the paperwork. Simple as that. If you want privacy, you need your own separate insurance. If you don't want your parents to know, get your own insurance or pay for the doctor yourself. You are an adult, right? |
