Do my dad and I have to do anything to keep me on HIS insurance after I'm married? |
Ok considering we will be living in his house. Your father will need to read the terms of his insurance to find whether or not you are, or will continue to be, eligible. Every company is different, and each company offers a number of different policies with different conditions, only his documentation -- or insurance representative -- would detail the terms of his policy. It's illegal for you to be on his insurance after you're married. The act of getting married legally means you are no longer a dependent. Even if you're in a college (ie a student thus qualifying as a dependent) once you're married you give up your status as a dependent. You can't be on his insurance anymore ... you get married and you are no longer a dependent of his ... you're a dependent of your HUSBAND'S. In the US, I鈥檝e never known of a insurance company that allowed a parent to continue coverage on a child after they were married (once you鈥檙e married, you鈥檙e no longer your parents dependant). He CANT YOU WILL HAVE TO GET YOUR OWN ONCE YOU ARE MARRIED YOU ARE CONSIDERED SEPARATE HOUSEHOLD NO LONGER A DEPENDENT this question annoys me.. if you are old enough to get married, you are old enough to take responsibility for yourself! or maybe daddy can just pay for it! spoiled.. I think you'll probably be kicked off of it. But I don't know what your insurance is and your specific plan etc. So I'd look into all of that. |
