How to deal with an unfair medical bill? |
I recently went to a throat specialist for a re-checkup on a problem. After spending literally 30 seconds looking in my throat, the specialist told me, "I don't know what to tell you." He then referred me to someone else (who, incidentally I was told would call me and he never did). Anyway, I was in his office for less than 3 minutes and got no help at all. I received my bill and it's for $324 AFTER insurance!!!!!! First, call your insurance and find out exactly what it was he billed you for. Explain what he actually did and see if that's what he said he did. He had to use a procedure code and that's what their payment is based upon. It's possible he billed you for a procedure other than the exam. |
