I hit a mailbox and have to go to court.?

Car Accident?
Today, I was driving and I hydroplaned into a mailbox. I got scared and like a idiot, called the police. She is sending me to court. I am only 16 and I was wondering if my license is going to be taken away. And also what kind of charges will they charge me.

&&& I'm not under my parent's insurance.

AND would my parents go to jail?

SORRY, i don't want to sound dumb but...How much would hiring an attorney be and what is the purpose of hiring one?

how much fine am i looking at?

you should have called your parents for advice. All she can get from you is a new mailbox. Why not offer to buy her one and avoid the whole court thing?

Your license will not be taken away. Your parents will not go to jail. If you received a ticket your parents might be forced to add you to their insurance policy. You don't mention whether you received a ticket but if you did you will also have to pay that. Cops don't usually issue a ticket if they did not witness the infraction.

An attorney will just be an unnecessary expense.

Is this the same mailbox as last time or a different one? Don't bother with a lawyer, they will only take more of your money. The judge will keep the amount the plaintiff is asking for from getting outrageous. Just tell the truth - you lost control of your car because of water on the road hit a mailbox. Why don't you offer to settle this out of court so as to avoid paying court costs as well? - you could end up paying for their lawyer if they get one, and that will be far more than the cost of the mailbox.

you don't want to sound dumb?

How did you get a license in the first place?

These are very basic questions any driver should know....

attorneys are listed by the trillions in your local; yellow pages - many offer a free consultation - start dialing and asking.....
