What can i do to keep my car? |
my step dad bought a car for me and gave it to me as an xmas present. I make the car payments of 300 dollars but im currently in college and i can't afford to pay for school and insurance on the car so he pays for that. The car is in his name and he refuses to put it in my name. It's a long story but he acts really crazy and he wants to take away the car. To keep him happy and show im trying to pay for the car i let him claim me on his taxes and claim my schooling even though i am the one who payed to go to college. It was an agreement to keep the car. I have told him he could give me my tax money back if he is going to take the car away but he refuses to give me the money. Im just wondering if i can take him to court or force him to give me the car. Any advice someone could provide me would help. Thanks! you could try; without a witness, agreement or exchange of some type, it would be your word against his; and posession of the title is going to be the key Pay for it. !1st ,go to jail next (for tax fraud.)Merry Christmas? why would you take your own step dad to court over a car, thats really messed up. Thats like a stupid story you see on judge judy. You can't force someone to put a car in your name, if they dont want to they dont have to, its technically not yours unless its in your name, regardless that it was a gift. I'm pretty sure there is a reason he wants to take the car. What are you doing that he wants to take the car away from you, because you being in school and not being able to pay for it isnt a good enough reason for me. Sorry to be so harsh, but hey...truth hurts. |
