Step dad allowed?

I have "Temporary full sole and legal custody" I have had it for 2 years. My new husband has been providing for the kid's, money wise, house wise, food, insurance "EVERYTHING" a BIOLOGICAL parent should do except this is their step dad.

Is he allowed to take the kid's to the doctor if im unable to make it?

Or does he have to have permission from me like a letter telling the doctor its okay?

When my dad takes my son to the Dr I had to write a permission slip which they keep on file.

As the stepfather, and since the children live with you and him, your husband is in essence a legal guardian, so he can take the kids to the doctor or anywhere they need to go without specific written permission from you. You need to make sure though that he is listed on your children's medical paperwork as their stepfather.

Do you list him as the stepfather on all the school paperwork? If not, you should -- this way he also can take them home from school if they're sick or for whatever reason you might need him to. Most school paperwork nowadays has a line to list the step-parent. If on the paperwork there is only a section for father, write in "step" in front of it and add his name. Or, if you are required to have their biological father's name on the paperwork, add a line so that you can have your husband's name included. This is what I do. Saves a lot of frustrating red-tape later when you might need him to do something at the school on behalf of the kids.

I have no personal experience, but yes he should be allowed to take them to the doctor, I have had my father n law take my children when I couldnt and the doctors are fine and dont even ask questions. Also, if the biological father is out of the picture, you should look into having your husband adopt your children legally. Good luck and I hope this helps.

Check with the doctor. Some States have different rules. I enrolled my Step-children in school but needed a permission slip from my wife to take them to the doctors. Makes no sense but thats the way it is.

as long as your married he has the right to take the kids, even though me and my fiance are not married I still take on the roll of his sons mother and vise versa for him with my kids.

Call your doc and ask.

yes...of course he can.
