Question about car insurance!!!? |
m 18 and i have a full driving licence......my car is out of action for the weekend and i wanted to insure myself on my mothers car!!! When i rang the insurance company i was told this was not possible and if i wanted insurance i would have to insure myself until the end of the policy which is next January!!! You have to be an insured driver. You shouldn't have called the co. because usually, there is an exception for unplanned/incidental drivers and you would have been covered. However, since they know you are a known driver then your mom's policy or your policy needs to be in effect listing you as an insured driver. Under your condition,I advise here for you to have a visit.http://car-insurance.online-tips.info/ca... If you are living in her house, than you should be added to the policy to be sure that you are covered on the vehicles in the household. If you are not living in the house, than in most states and with most companies, there is coverage for occasional drivers as long as you are an insured driver somewhere on some vehicle. This is going to vary a little from state to state and company to company though. You might just need to clarify the question a little with an agent of the company. You can also read about this here: http://www.knowyouragent.net/HowDoIInsur... Usually a person's car is insured so no matter who hops in to drive it they are insured. Sometimes there is a clause that no drivers under a certain age are covered. If you live in her house it seems you have to be insured once you get your lisense which means you have to start paying for insurance. You don't have to pay for a year. They can quote you for a year but you have a choice as you make payments. If you move away & get insurance somewhere else you can then get them to transfer your coverage or stop it as long as it is being picked up by another comapny. Try using http://InsureMeToday.info to compare rates for all the insurance providers in your area. are you saying that your mum will not know of your doings ..because otherwise asking can just put you on instantly even with any extra charge ..just be careful i mean using the car without consent cause if anything happened in a bad way it could cause extreme **** for your mum and you especially mum |
