Small car accident without insurance, paid in cash for damage, proof?

I got in a small car accident before school the other day. Decided to not call insurance and pay for it. I'm gonna meet with the guy tomorrow since he fixed his car and needs the money. I was wondering if there is something i can print out and have him/me sign to prove in case he tries to sue me that i paid for damages?

Give him a check, or a cashiers check, with a statement that shows this is payment in full for all damages relating to the accident (date). Also type up a reciept waying the same thing, and include the check number on it. Have him sign the reciept before giving him the check.

The question shows good thinking on your part!

I think they are supposed to give you a copy of the work order even if it is paid in cash.

I remember when I took my car to get an alternater replaced. The guy has a policy of cash only. And the guy had it rebuilt instead of replaced and it worked fine for a few months then broke down again and i had to buy a new one.

I think this guy has a cash only policy so he doesn't have to pay taxes on it.
