What is physicians' group liability insurance (I think I know and I hope I'm wrong...)...!!?

please ask me what i mean.....thanks in advance!

The mystifying part is the GROUP aspect....

It is insurance that physicians have in case they are sued and end up owing money. With so many lawsuits these days, virtually all physicians and doctors take out insurance.

Liability insurance means insurance for something that was your fault, so this would be insurance for the doctors if the doctors were at fault. Just like auto insurance for if you are involved in an accident that was your fault, then you are liable, and your liability insurance would kick in.

-----update-----
I think group just means the insurance covers a group of doctors. Probably a way of keeping costs down. Employers do this with insurance. If you get life or disability insurance through work, it is probably group life insurance. If an insurance company has to cover one person, they will charge more for that one person than if they know they are getting business from a whole group of people. Its like the doctors getting together to buy in bulk, and get a group discount
