Negligence on homeowners insurance? |
Is allowing someone at your house to get drunk and do drugs, then that person commits a crimanal attack on someone else in the house is that negligence on the homeowner part? Yes because you gave the person permission to do that It depends on where you live. Here's California's statute: It is, you wont generally be covered for that by insurance. The home owner is responsible for access control, allowing illegal activity is something that can void your insurance. Yes .... if you enable a person to drink and take drugs on your property and allow it to continue and then the person commits a criminal action then the homeowner can be held liable. Check with your homeowners policy if you are found negligent since it occurred on your property you might be able to recoup monies, i.e. for medical payment to the injured party. Read the fine print on your homeowners as unlawful activity might not be covered. |
