I was in a car accident and have sufferered minor injuries. Other driver was uninsured.? |
And I was driving my friends car. I don't have a car or insurance of my own. I was taken to the ER after the accident with a sprained wrist and minor whiplash and have been going to a chrio for back pain since then. My friends insurance is telling me that they will only cover 80% of my medical, but I don't think this is fair. Since I am not the at fault party, I feel the insurance should pay 100% of my medical expensices. Also, I have been in pain since the accident. Who pays for that? I have tried to call several lawer referal services with no luck. How to I get my friends insurance to cover the remaining 20% of the medical. Can I go after their homeowners for that? The accident took place in florida and I am not sure if there was uninsured motorist on the policy. I know the PIP is covering the medical. But, I am having a hard time finding out what my options are and who to go after for additional monies. If her PIP pays for only 80%, then that is all you will get under the PIP coverage. u can sue them but I really doubt they will pay the 20%, u should more than likely try to work out a deal with them personally. Contact your county court house and ask for advise. Why can't you get a lawyer? The party at fault is responsible for damages and injury. Since they did not have insurance you need to try to sue the other party civilly for any unpaid medical expenses and lost wages (if applicable). Your friend's insurance has done all that they can do. Most insurance wouldn't of given you the 80%. Your friend should just plan for their insurance to skyrocket as a result. Hey, Contrary to popular belief not having your own car does not make it OK to drive without insurance. I would be happy my friends insurance is paying anything. If you yourself do not have insurance you should not be on the road. |
