Paying back medical expenses after maternity leave?

My wife is wanting to quit her job, now that her maternity leave is over. Someone told her that if she quits immediately after her leave, that she will be forced to pay all of her medical expenses back, despite the fact that she had insurance through them. Any truth to this? She was a cashier at Target.

My best thought would be to carefully read your employee's manual and see if this is covered. Or a call to your insurance carrier. Last best choice would be to go back to work for a couple of weeks and then resign. With the ways some companies have their rules written today, it could be possible for them to regain medical costs if a person resigns right away.

Best of luck and I hope this is useful

Could be. It's a crock of crap what these companies are doing. If it happens, write your congressman -- all of them.
