How much trouble am I in? |
I got into a very minor accident the other day while driving my boyfriends car. I hydroplanned into another car and the only damage was paint transfer from my car to theirs. The police were called and I was really worried because I only have apermit, but I am eligible for a license because it has been 9 months since I got my permit. Anyway, the cop did not notice that I only had my permit and I drove away in my boyriends car when everything was done. I got a ticket though for following too close, so it said anyway. Also, I am not under my boyfriends insurance and I was driving alone. I just don't know what to do. :( Plan on losing your permit and not getting a license for at least 6 months. as well as a bill for all this. Fess up the truth will come out in the end. Between now and your court appearance try to get you license and some insurance. Since it was minimal damage the officer probably didn't want to hassel with the other details...espcially if it was raining. When you go to court you can show the judge that you now have your license and proof of insurance...more than likely you'll just have to pay a fine and court costs. Nothing gets reported to the DMV until there's a conviction of some sort. |
