Black people, can you answer this for me please?

I recently moved to the US from the United Kingdom and Blacks are not called "African American" over there or any other such politically correct term. Blacks are called "Black British", and whites are called "White British". Nothing PC about it.
I am here to study for a degree, and I got a job at a local Starbucks to help me pay for my gasoline and insurance until I can get a decent job.
Recently, a fellow Barista told me that the "Black Bottom cupcake" and the "Black and White Mocha" had to be changed to "Chocolate Cream Cheese Cupcake" and "Zebra Mocha", because people were offended by the word "black" in the name.
I have consulted every single solitary black person that I know and they said that that's ridiculous and they would not have ever thought anything racist or race oriented about that.
What's next? Are we going to be renaming crayons, too?

The Barista was not pulling my leg when she told me about the name change. There was a letter sent to all store managers about the name changes. I read the letter personally.

On the Colbert Report yesterday, he renamed the "White" crayon, he changed it to Republican White.

It was the color a little girl used to color in a picture of John McCain that made him look extremely pale in the drawing.

But as to your real question, racism and political correctness aren't as bad as that for most people. But every once in a while, you'll find someone who will take it to an extreme and try to sue a company over even something like that.

Most people of any color are sane enough to realize nothing was meant by it, but there is always that one fool who decides he wants money and will try suing over something like that.

Starbucks was probably just trying to make sure they weren't the ones who were sued. Its a lot easier to change a name of a food product than defend against a lawsuit. Even a successful defense against a lawsuit is expensive. And if they were to lose, and with our legal system its a possibility they would lose, the costs could be astronomical. Might as well just change it and make sure even the crazy one couldn't sue.

a several years ago crayol had a crayon that was called indian red and they were forced to change that....lol f.y.i. Report It
