How to write a letter to a judge on hardship grounds?

i am due to get a driving ban in 2 weeks time but i have been told by the court that i can send a letter to the court to plead for them not to ban me on hardship grounds. i got offerd a driving job 2 wks ago,have a disable husband who relys on me for transport n a child with a serious med condition who i need to be able to drive about. how do i address this letter to the court? the ban is for getting 12 points in the last 12 months for no insurance,through no fault of my own

How was it not your fault that you didn't have insurance?

To have any hope of this first you need to have insurance. The judge isn't going to let you drive unless that is dealt with. You'll need to bring proof of that.

You'll also need proof from a medical professional to establish both your husbands and sons medical conditions.

Proof of employment would also help but I can understand that being hard given you might not want your new employer to know.

Keep it short and to the point. Explain why you need to drive and why public transportation is not an option. Be contrite Don't go in there claiming it was not your fault since there is no way not having inssurance could be anything but your fault.

Address the letter as "Your Honor"

Gut of the letter: I accept responsibility for...[specify] I have been offered a job and I request that this court lift the ban on my license, for the purpose of accepting this job. My husband is disabled and my child has... [be specific] and I am the only one capable of bringing in an income.

Next paragraph: I've enclosed a copy of my current vehicle insurance and will keep the minimum state required coverage on my vehicle at all times. [enclose a copy of your insurance policy].

Ending: Thank you for your time Your Honor. Sincerely, [then your full name]

Auto insurance is expensive. Try contacting a company like Safe Auto [I do know they don't insure Michigan drivers, because I was contemplating moving to Michigan a while back]. I'm not pushing or being paid by Safe Auto, I'm just suggesting that you shop around for insurance. Safe Auto came to mind because of the 12 points in 12 months...

Step #1 accept responsibility......"not my fault"
