Can military members be given tickets for modified cars even if its registered in another state? |
I bought my honda in texas from the dealership, it came with a 5% factory tint. I placed an exhaust on it as well. I joined the US ARMY infantry and was stationed in california. I recently got a ticket by a California Highway Patrol officer for my "illegal tint and exhaust". If my drivers liscense, car insurance, registration, liscense plate, place of residence, is from or in Texas...and i pay taxes to texas, then can they give me a ticket for my car in california? my car was smogged in california and it meets the requirements. i have a court date and would like to fight the ticket. are military members exempt? after all, i am not a resident of california and my car is not required to be registered here. i mean in the military we have cars regsitered from alaska, germany, japan, etc. does that mean because we are temporarily in california our cars have to meet their rules? who's going to pay for it? i certainly can't afford it! Please only answers with FACTS! i need it 4 court! thanks! That's quite pompous to think that you're not going to get a ticket just because you signed up to fight the fake war. There is no way your car came from the manufacturer with 5% tint, so don't try to use that line in court. Have the tint removed, and if you want to retint, do so in compliance with California law, since you are operating a vehicle and are temporarily (more than, let's say, 30 days) in California. Most states have stringent tint laws, anyway. If you cannot plainly see a driver's license number through the tint, it is probably too dark. You want facts.. hit up the JAG. yes yes they can give you tickets, and it doesnt matter if your in the military. If you're driving in California, you're subject to California law. It's no different than if someone from California was driving through Texas on vacation. |
