Please PLEASE dont judge me....Possible SSI fraud? |
Ok So im the payee of someone that receives SSI. He and I went and cashed the check last night, only spent 100$ out of it on insurance for the car, stopped off at a truck stop to check the car and lost his wallet with the remainder of $700 in it. Now.....PLEASE do not judge me given the circumstances, because this WILL be paid back. We want to see if we can go to SSI and let them know the check never came and see if we would be able to get another check.....We have rent due amongst many other bills and face living on the streeets. YES we should have been more careful but things happen and now were up Sh*t creek without a paddle about to roar up some white waters. So please if anyone has any info Id so greatly appreciate it. If they found out would they harshly come after me such as jail time? Or would they just take out of his monthly check therefore after Are there any other possible options besides what I just described to you all? I can't get a load nor can he, and we have no one to help us out but ourselves. PLEASE HELP! I would find some sort of short-term monetary assistance or loan. Maybe the Salvation Army or some sort of church organization, or a loan from the bank. The government will have the check with your payee's signature etc and possibly video of you cashing the check. This is a bad idea. Did you sign the check to cash it? Of course you had to so you will get caught. I wouldn't do it.You could lose all ssi benifits in the future and serve jail time.Simply not worth it. YOu will really be up ***** creek if you do. File a police report then go to public assistance and see if they can temporarily help out. Good Luck. Are you kidding? Of course it's SSI and check fraud; and intentional. Loss of benefits, payback and possible jail time. they can look it up and see the check was cashed and by whom, where, and when and you will get charged with fraud and sent to jail. i DO NOT reccomend doing that they will now if the check has been cashed anyway plus your messing with the federal government when you messing with ssi trust me i know,i hate to say it but chalk it up as a lost till next month I got some advice for you. If you claim that the check never came they'll put a trace on it and find out that it did. The result will be a criminal prosection for fraud - for which you will go to jail - plus the SSI will be shut off. They can easily verify whether the check was cashed or not, even verifying the signature of who endorsed the check and at what bank (enabling them to pull videotapes). You are asking for a world of hurt if you try the fraud road. I would ask a friend or family member if you can take a temporary loan from them, making sure of course that you pay them back over the next couple of months. Good luck. You are lucky enough to get assistance in the first place and regardless of your situation if you do as you suggest it is fraud. If I lost my some money after I cashed my paycheck and tried to pull that at my job I'd be fired. First of all, I will be extremely PISSED if my tax dollars end up paying for your irresposibility. i dont recommend it.. They can probably trace where you cashed the check, so I wouldn't say I lost it. You could explain your situation and see if they could help, but SSI fraud is just going to get you into deeper sh*t. This is a very bad idea! They can trace the check, see that it was cashed, find your signature on it, and prosecute you for fraud which can lead to jail time! Sorry! Look, I know the situation is hard, but what you're proposing is a felony. The check isn't lost, and SSI is going to get it and its going to have his signature. If you've reported it lost, your problem of losing $700 will pale by comparison to the world of hurt you're going to find yourselves in. GET A JOB!!!!! Theyre going to realize that you already cashed the check...sorry =( No, you can't do that. It wouldn't work anyway because they can prove that you cashed the check. It was your money and your responsibility. You're SOL. |
