Help on my ticket? |
I got a ticket a few months back for 5 over. Contested the ticket by writing a letter to the judge (which you can do in my state) asking for the judge to knock off the 2 points. When i got the letter back they did not drop the points or anything. So then they said I can contest in court. i really cant afford my insurance going up with the 2 points on my liscense so I HAVE to go to court to try and get out of it again. but since i wrote the letter I have to go to a formal hearing..not a informal one....and I already went to the court and posted 120 dollars bond and am just waiting for my court date..... Also..when the cop gave me the ticket he said " since you were only going 5 over theres no points...you just have to pay the fine"....which was a LIE because there are 2 Hello Paige. If it will financially hurt you that badly with the two points being assessed, the best advice I can offer is to hire an attorney to go to the formal hearing with you. 5 miles over the limit is really low. Most competant attorneys should be able to help in this. 5-Mile over the limit? That officer may have had a bad day. Go to the hearing, and explain the situation and that it is the first violation. I think the court will show mercy. |
