How do i request traffic school after i plead not guilty?

I wasnt sure how to handle my court date, so i plead not guilty to get a later date in hopes the officer wont show or that i could request traffic school. i got a ticket for going 86 in a 65 in ohio (Milan, Erie County Court) but havent had any tickets in 3 years. i thought i could request traffic school at least or ask for an extension, but when i called the court the clerk said" oh we dont do anything like that here and that only your lawyer can ask for an extension"

-Is that bs, or can you not request traffic school in Some courts?
-Im not sure what my best approach would be when i go back in on Monday since i already plead not guilty at first? I dont want the points on my license since i just got a new car and have insurance on two.
-I did it like 6 years ago, but im not sure now how i can still request for traffic school. What should i do/say???

I'd talk to a local atty and find out what my options are.

If guilty, and you obviously are, I'd change my plea
