Wreckless driving ticket! But give me your advice on the subject.?

Virginia,My wife was driving on To work one after noon when a blue nissan passed her about the time the car passed a police officer drove by clocking my wife at 78 miles per hour although she was driving over the speed limit the police officer clocked the nissan at 78 and gave my wife the tiucket for that speed .What is your opinion on what we should do the insurance repricutions and the fines are crazy give me your input.10 points for the best answer guaranteed.

unfortunately there isn't much you can do, unless you decide to schedule a court hearing and plead the costs. this however is most likely NOT to work, and when it doesn't you'll be fined for the ticket plus court expenses.

usually every state has some sort of driving school/course that can be taken to keep the points from going on your liscense. you still have to pay for the ticket, put you don't have to pay the extra insurance dues every month if you take driving school.

however, if you have already taken the driving course less than a year ago, you cannot take it again and so the points go on your liscense.

either way, you still have to pay your ticket within 30 days and it would be best to talk to the clerk of court. his/her contact info should be somewhere on the ticket

good luck!

Alot could depend on what the legal speed limit was, if not to far off you made be able to talk to the DA and get it reduced

Hey if you get hammered you get hammered.

There really isn't much you can do to fight it. she can go plead her case before a judge, and 'admit' that she was doing whatever speeding she was doing and see if the judge will listen. I doubt it though, as that tactic is tried often by those caught for speeding.

The cop's radar locked on the faster car and she got caught. If the speed limit was 55 and she was caught doing 78, that 23 mph over the speed limit and in most jurisdictions that's called "Criminal Speed". Big tme fine and more points than simply speeding. If the speed limit was 65 and she got cited for doing 78, t hat's 13 over and not criminal but she will still get hammered with the points on her license (in AZ that's a 6-pointer). It will raise your rates.

Of course, if the speed limit was 35 or 45 and she got hammered, she's lucky she wasn't arrested on the spot.

My advice on this subject is to OBEY the speed limits. SPEEDING does NOT, contrary to popular belief, "get you there faster" - esp if you get nailed and stopped and given a ticket. If you are driving across the country (2000 miles) at 70 mph, yea, doing 13 or 15 over the speed limit will get you there somewhat faster, but for the few miles we drive to work (even if it's 50 miles) doing 13 over the speed limit will not save you time.

If the speed limit is 75 mph and you have to drive 75 miles to work (assumign no traffic and good traffic flow), you get to work in one hour 1.25 miles per minute).

If you increase your speed to 90 mph (and 15 over is criminal speed), you can do that same 75 miles at 1.5 miles per minute or 50 minutes. That's a 10 min savimgs at a risk of a very hefty fine and insurance rates.

And you increase your fuel consumption CONSIDERABLY.

And if you add stop and go traffic, other speeding and bad drivers, the risks are not really worth it.

If you drive 7.5 miles to work, like I do, I have a couple of blocks to the main drag, which is a divided 4 land (speed limit of 50 mph) for about 4 miles. Then I have to get off at a stop light and then I drive another 3.4 miles at 45 mph (on a military base where I cannot speed).

If I push my speed limit from 50 to 65 on the divided highway, and assuming I get the 4 lights green, I simply cannot justify taking the risks of accidents, tickets etc to make it to work 2 minutes earlier. But one red light negates all that speeding and excess fuel consumption.

If she was going that fast (even if she got hammered for the Nissan's speed) I can only hope she wasn't putting on her makeup, doing her hair and yakking on the cellphone all at the same time while driving... LoL.

Just my suggestion.
