Who ever said crime does not pay?

If it wasn't for crime lots of people would be out of work, for without crime most places like courts, police stations, solicitors, etc would not exist. Crime keeps these people in work and keep society functioning, without crime there would be no work for extra, police, burglar alarm companies, solicitors, magistrates, prison officers, administrative staff to do the paper work, home insurance companies, etc. What do people think??

Never thought of it like that...

This is sometimes called the broken window theory, that says if your window is broken, you have to pay someone to fix it, someone to provide the new window, etc, and this helps the economy.

NO, this is not valid. Essentially, if those who steal were to instead do something useful, those people who now work in courts or policing would have other, more productive jobs, because of the huge drop our taxes would take in not having to pay them.

Imagine a world without crime. Now imagine how much of your tax money now goes to fund the crime system, all the items you mention. Now imagine what you would DO with that tax money (you, yourself, not the government) if you didn't have to pay it? Would you buy a new car? Would you repair your house move often? Take more trips?

Whatever it was, somebody would have to provide all those goods and services. That. my friend, is more useful work than dealing with drug addicted criminals.

The quotation has nothing to do with the rest of your question.

The phrase "Crime does not pay" is a moral comment in that you may benefit from crime monetarily but will cost you otherwise. Good standing in your community, etc...

As for the rest of your question... you're probobly right but man oh man what a nice place that would be to live in and who knows what other sorts of livings folks could earn in such a world.

As for the lawyers... well we all know that they'd find something else to line their pockets with without reducing their numbers.

I agree.
When i think of all those ALAN SUGAR types out there who obviously got there cash from ripping of some poor tool out of his lifes savings.
A bit harsh i know.
Like Alan Sugar made his cash by offering such good fair deals to his customers.
They are all bent thats what annoys me, but make out they are great charitable guys.
Bunch of c..ts

depends on the definition of crime - rape, commercial burgalry, 'victimless' crime; all can't be catogerised as the same. Honour amongst thieves, the true criminals police themselves and their own communities.

the saying refers to the crime not paying for the perpatrator

without crime alot more people would be alive and not lost precious possesions

also .. ive neva met a decent criminal .. never

Japan seems to get by with hardly any crime

Take a look in your local library. there are dozens of huge volumes with the law in, and only one is about criminal law so solicitors would be ok

It keeps the Labour party in government too!

I would sooner not have the crime

Sounds like you`re a criminal trying to justify you`re wrong doings

Your so right ,,there,,,
