Does you Insurance company inform you when someone is filing suit against you? |
I was in a accident with a friend and she told me she's not suing my insurance just the other parties, but for some reason I don't trust her. If I was being sued by her would my insurance company inform me? She might just be suing the other person, because I got no calls or letters from my insurance that the was suing. Another one of my friends just hit someone from behind and she received a letter in the mail in a week that said that the girl was suing her insurance. Why didn't I get a letter or a call if my backstabbing friend is suing my insurance? No one can "sue" your insurance. If someone were to make a claim against you, that person would have to put you on notice, then sue you if you don't agree to pay. First of all, a person injured in a car accident does not start by suing an insurance company unless the company--their own company--is not honoring medical bills or lost wage claims. For the accident itself, the injured person sues the drivers and owners of the cars. Let's say there's a three car accident involving you, the plaintiff, and a third party. The plaintiff is your friend, so she does not sue you. So what? The other car's insurance company will bring you into the case as a third-party defendant. |
