i live in wisconsin and our state does not require you to have automobile insurance. my fiance at the time had his truck registered in wisconsin and came to texas but on the way got pulled over in oklahoma and got a no insurance ticket he had 48 hrs to prove of insurance but we were not in wisconsin to prove that we dont have to have it and now he has to pay the ticket or he goes to jail. does anyone know anything that i can do to get out of this ticket or what there is to do. its not required to have insurance in wisconsin but it is in oklahoma i called and spoke to a person at ok they said they had no idea about our laws .. please help

You need to have proper proof for insurance or financial responsibility when traveling out of state. Your best bet is to provide proof of your financial responsibility as required by Wisconsin and if that satisfies the minimum requirement for Oklahoma you probably can have the ticket dismissed. If not you can certainly try and plea by mail or contact the Oklahoma court and explain the matter to someone their and they may have a way for you to get the ticket knocked down to a lesser violation. Good Luck!!!!

Is auto insurance mandatory in Wisconsin?

Wisconsin has a financial responsibility law. It is designed to make sure that any motorist licensed to drive in Wisconsin has insurance or enough money to pay for damages to others that may be caused by a motor vehicle. These requirements may be met through a motor vehicle liability insurance policy, a surety bond, personal funds, or certificate of self-insurance. Details are available at the Department of Transportation, Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV), Hill Farms State Office Building, 4802 Sheboygan Ave., Madison, WI 53702.
