Will my car insurance premium go up?

The passenger in my car opened the door and a bicyclist ran into it. I exchanged my contact information with the bicyclist (but not my insurance information). As a precaution, he called 911 to report the accident, but told them he was ok and asked them not to respond. He gave them my license plate number. We both decided not to involve my insurance. My question is: will the police contact my insurance company to report the accident even though the bicyclist isn't going to make a claim? Is that standard operating procedure for the police? I really really really dont want my insurance to go up due to this minor incidence.

If he called the police and asked them not to respond, there is no report. The police will not contact your insurance company. The police don't send your insurance company a report if one is taken anyway. It is up to the insurance company to request a copy of the report. They also have to pay a fee to get it (usually like $10-$15). The police will not just send it for free just because.

In short, if you or the bicyclist didn't report it to your insurance company, they don't know it happened.

if you get in a accident

Probably.

If there was not a citation issued ther is no way for your insurance to find out that this happened.

If neither you nor the bicyclist files a claim against your insurance, your insurance will not have to pay anything, and thus they will not raise your premium.
