Insurance company allowed to hire and send contractor to damaged property without consent of property owner?

If an insured property is damaged, is the insurance company permitted to choose and send a contractor to repair the premises without first obtaining the consent of the insured?

Read your policy.

no, contact your states insurance dept and file a complaint

I don't think so. Check with the State Department of Insurance.

Usually, they can have their own contractor look at it and make a quote -- and they don't have to pay more than the quote. However you should be able to choose your own contractor.
