I have a insurance company offering me a settlement .Insurance co.wants there contractor to do the work?

i want to do work myself and was looking for the law that will allow me to do so i need to prove this to the insurance company and then they will cut a check to me

Get a lawyer, that's your best bet.

It depends on what the work is for. To have insurance pay, it has to be professional quality. If it's something you can do, go for it, and check in your phone book for the number in the state government pages for the Governor's Advocate numbers-there should be a listing for insurance and they can help you with your state laws.

The insurance company will always look to use their own contractor but you should have the option of using your own if you prefer, including yourself.

You would really have to read your policy thoguh to be certain. You should have a section entitled, "The Basis of Claim Payment", it might be in there.

You should just be able to communicate your wishes to your adjuster though. A lawyer shouldn't really be necessary here.
