Do schools have to have liability insurance for accidents that happen at school to students.?

My child fell off stairs at school which sent her to hospital. School states they do not have to pay. They said our insurance should pay . They said we should of bought their insurance if our insurance was not enough.

I would imagine that the school, or the town, has insurance. If they don't, they should.

If they refuse to pay, consult a lawyer. Good luck.

Supposedly they aren't and can not be responsible, except for if the accident was the school's fault (ex. mopped floors and no caution sign)

schools need not have to, in terms of their deifinition or their rules n regulations. However it would be better off if a chool could provide such an assistance thereby standing as an example to being an "altruist",hence makin themselves serve as an idol for the students to show respect to lives of others.
