Why do insurance companies make you feel like a liar when claiming for being robbed in your own home !!!?

We were robbed early thurs morning I came downstairs to find 3 men in my home ,they ran out and stole our car to getaway When i phoned the insurance the questions made me feel as if I was telling lies I have never claimed for anything before the robber got my 3 rings wedding , engagement , and eternity which I have no reciepts for they also got my laptop its got a password on it and they didnt get the mains plug can they still use it ? Sorry but I needed a moan today cos I'm so down .

I have a few pics of me wearing the rings, there not great but at least you can see them and the insurance said to send them but they wont let me email to them and I cant print them out cos the printer i have isnt good .

Hope you're feeling better soon.

Sadly, so many people see an insurance claim as an opportunity to make money, and claim for things that they did not lose, that the insurance companies are wary. This is especially harsh on honest customers, like you, particularly at a time when people are upset.

People who inflate insurance claims justify their actions on the grounds that 'everyone does it'. I don't. So not everyone does. I can't see the difference between lying on an insurance claim to get money you're not entitled to and theft.

maybe because they dont want to pay for all the junk that was stolen hope it gets better by the way

I was robbed about a year ago when I was 6 months pregnant and living alone. They stole my laptop, dvd's, all my baby shower items, jewelry, etc... The insurance company made me feel like the criminal and after awhile I just lost it. I was so devastated, but eventually I just had to accept that I would never get that stuff back. All you can do is move on and try to replace the items with something similar and make NEW memories. I am so sorry that this happened to you! Keep your head up, and you make sure that you get a fair settlement from the insurance. Dont accept what they first offer...continue to insist and make sure you are treated fairly. They are very flexible and will eventually give you what you want if you keep at it!

The claims adjuster has only your word to go on about what was stolen. The adjuster has to do an investigation to determine if you have a valid claim and what is the correct dollar amount of the claim.

Experienced adjusters get suspicious of everyone, eventually. People lie and make fraudulent claims very frequently. Don't feel offended. The insurance company has to protect your interest and the interest of all of the other policyholders who paid premiums to cover your loss.

well unfortunatly for you , many many people have exargerated their claims so now they are wary of peoples claims, but fear not , its just got to be done and you should soon have the money to try a nd replace your items although we know that they wont be able to replace the things you are attached to.

sorry hun i know its awful, i got robbed a few years back and didnt have no isurance so i had to work damn hard to replace my stuff that got nicked and i was fuming for ages , and still find it hard to sleep at night as i "keep hearing noises"

their insurance companies their job is to take your money to give it to you. get yor claim and then complain about them and go to another insurance compani

they take a required course...

i believe its called how to be a douche 101

I am so sorry you have had a burglary- I had a similar incident in March and the insurance still hasn't been settled.
Please don't take the questions personally as the insurers are looking out for fraudulant claims- as long as you have notified the police and got a crime number and can prove in some way the possessions stolen the insurance company should see you right- if not then change your insurers once this claim has been settled.
good luck

they make money by denying claims

Because they think commercially, which implies that money is the goal, not people.
Please feel my sympathy for this situation of yours and think: they are pathetic, not you!!

Because every body is not like you.The insurance companies are hit every day with false or inflated claims and they are being forced to treat all claimants as possible fraudsters. It is a case of guilty till found innocent.Don't blame the insurance co. too much. They are trying to protect their own and their genuine clients interests. If they just paid all claims willy nilly without checking the premiums would go through the roof. No you should be blaming all those unscrupulous people who raise false inflated claims.

"The best defense is a good offense."

Insurance companies are set up TO NOT PAY!
This is a fact of life. That's why it's so important you find a company that is pro-customer relations and one that does not have UCC filings against them.
You can file a grievance with the State Insurance Commission who regulate and govern insurance agencies in that state. It can be effective step to take. Usually they are in your state's capitol city.
Good luck! And don't give up--that's what they're hoping you'll do.

It's funny how insurance companies claim to help their clients and then get pissy when they're needed to pay on a claim. I guess they are trained in sales to gain business and then to keep in business they are trained to interrogate, delay, negotiate for a better deal. It's a catch 22 to expect your insurance coverage will be there when you need it [rightfully so, since you pay for it], just to be questioned, threats of premium increase or dropped all together when you do file a claim. If you have any pictures of you wearing the rings, take them in & passwords can be wiped off thru your bios setup, unless you had one set for that also. Pretty much, the right person can get thru any computer and find parts. If you have the product key code seperate from the laptop, call it in as stolen and they can block the number. Then the thief can't download up dates without validation. Software liscenses all have these numbers & are expensive to buy new ones to make them valid.

sorry to hear whats happened to you. I hope the ones who did crash the car and burn to death in it, and then youll get a nice new one on the insurance.
If you dont want to risk losing the photos, go to any branch of spielmanns or boots and they can duplicate them so you have copies to send to the insurance fascists.
They could still use the laptop but without the password its unlikely they can get access to any of your files
The reason the insurofascists try and make you feel like a liar is theyre hoping you will get agitated and drop the claim so they can save money. Dont let them get away with it, stand firm!
Good luck

go at any photography store ( and some computer shops), they'll print your photos in few minutes no matters what's your source, other printed photos, digital photos, film...whatever, and for few cents...
they can use your laptop just buying generic laptop power cable
if they're really interested in your PC content they may easily be able to break your password, or will probably sell the laptop and don't care about your data in it
I imagine how you can feel, it's so bad when you get robbed or anyway damaged and have to deal with insurance companies that treat you like an idiot

because they do it saves them money ...had break in while ago and insurance company wanted to replace my jewelry with vouchers at x companies and refused ..didn't pay my insurance premiums with vouchers ..so ..go look at jewellers window get comparison for jewellery lost replace at own time at your discretion not were company sends you .stood my ground got the cash replaced some of my loss .with nice bits ...but .what price memories inheritance...... priceless ..used the rest for new car ..every cloud has silver lining demand the monies your choice not the insurance company .....you probably paid in loads already so don't feel guilty your not the crim remember that
