Will my insurance pay for this?

My wife and I were smoking last night on the couch. She got up and went to bed and I fell asleep. I was awakened a couple hours later because the couch and curtains were on fire and the smoke alarm was going off. I got my kids up and my wife out and we stood outside and watched all our stuff go up in flames. I know I dropped the roach down in th sofa when I fell asleep. I imagine it was burnt completely. Will the fire investigators find any trace of it and this cause my insurance not to pay?

It will look like a cigerette started the fire.

Wow I hope that doopy was worth it ! if the fire investigator figures it out....you won't get paid.

Most likely they will be able to find traces of the Marijuana, and they will certainly be able to find where the fire started. I don't believe that your insurance will pay if it is found that drug use started the fire. I'm glad everyone is safe, next time it may not happen that way...I suggest you take a good long look at your drug use before you put your children in danger again...and I beleive that I have the right to say that considering I was a drug addict for 4 years before I got sober and had a family.

No! I should hope not. Anyone stupid or uncaring enough to set his own house on fire, should pay for the damages himself. Maybe you should switch to booze for your high. Tell you what!! You give me the name and address of your insurance company and I will put in a good word for you.

Now you know why they call it "dope". No, you're most likely out of luck. And yes, they can trace it. They'll likely cancel your contract. It was your fault. And you have small kids? You need your *** kicked...

probably not. grow up and stop destructive behavior. get help if you need it. this is obviously a wake up call.

The investigators will trace the fire to the couch. I'm not sure if they will determine what ignited the couch. Read your insurance policy to find out if you are covered in case of negligence on your part. I almost said to ask your agent, but if you ask that question after a loss, they will know you are responsible.

If you have coverage they should pay for it. As for a roach, i doubt they'd be able to find something so little, unless you told the fire inspector what you believe caused the fire. However, if you have insurance, whether you are at fault or not, it should be covered, that's why you have insurance.

It is possible, esp if they catch this post and compare it to a fire report from last night
