Car Stolen and recovered, insurance still need police report? |
Hi all, Ask the police for the incident number and the name and badge number of the officer dealing with it. Call your insurance company and tell them that you will no longer be a customer of theirs if they do not treat you like the honest person that you are. This is correct. It is unlikely they will proceed with repairs until they have the police report or at least notification that the car was definately stolen. However, this wont stop them preparing to settle the claim by seeing estimates for repair and sending an engineer or assessor to see the damage. Ask them if they are prepared to do that. You can also ask the police if they have a preliminary report or crime sheet to fax to your insurers or a crime number. This may speed things up a little. |
