Do short-term insurance coverage companies have to abide by HIPAA requirements? |
I know that short-term coverage insurance companies are considered as creditable under HIPAA standards, but are they required to abide by HIPAA rules and regs? Especially for pre-existing conditions? "Although short-term coverage is considered creditable coverage under HIPAA, the plans themselves are exempt from HIPAA's requirements. This means that they do not have to guarantee renewability or issue or waive the preexisting condition exclusion for eligible individuals." yes Yep. All health insurance companies have to abide by HIPAA, as do all health care providers. |
