Suing a Friends insurance company etiquette? |
i took a bad fall on a friends stairs durring the constriction of his house. someone carelessly put a peice of cardboard at the bottom of the main entrence stairs, thay covered a hole! i sprained my ancle, and now months later, my knee feels like somethings wrong. i was not compencated for anything, and i cant afford the origanal hospital bill, let alone the MRI for the knee. I have an ongoing working relationship w/ this guy, and dont want to mess that up. what dose suing his insurance do to affect him? i would like it to cover loss of work, pain, and hosptal bills? any help would be great. thanks john Your not suing him, your suing his insurance company, that is why they are there. Sorry, but you don't sue his insurer directly. You contact the insurer and make a claim but if they refuse to pay then you have to sue your friend. If you do, the insurer will assume the defense and will ultimately be responsible for paying the judgment, but you have to go through your friend to get to the insurance company. |
