Suicide - no note - life insurance pay ?

I think it was a suicide, not an accident, all the signs and closed accounts and clients i spoke to, prove to me, 100% that this was a suicide, not an accident. The 'WILL' was recently updated and a copy was left in the bedroom with a letter explaining procedure for burial in event of death. Also a letter with power of attorney given to the ex-husband. My question is, life insurance was taken out 1 month ago, will they pay, will they investigate and find what I found. Death was by drowning in ocean.

I am speculating this was a suicide. The autopsy ruled accidental death by drowning.

If it's a suicide they won't pay. If they can think of any reason to suspect it's a suicide they won't pay, they'll tell the heirs to take them to court.

I would imagine they will do their own investigation, that likelihood goes up the higher the amount of the policy.

life insurance policies always find out if there is something fishy goin on... they dont just give out the money... they have to be sure it wasnt suicide before they pay.

if the insurance company thinks it was suicide they will not pay and if you stll want to collect, you can file a suit to get the money. if the judge rules that the death was suicide, you will not get paid. if the judge rules accident you will get paid. also, the insurance company might be willing to settle out of court for part of the money so they do not have to pay court costs.

Most insurance policies have a clause in them that states they will not pay our for suicide. It would come down to the insurance carrier and their policies. The only way to know for sure is to call and ask or read the policy if you don't want to ask them.

I'm not sure where you are in CA most Life Insurance companies won't pay in the event of suicide if the policy is younger then two years old; if they found the death was of course a suicide

If the medical examiner says accidental drowning, stop talking about suicide. The insurance will either pay or not based on the autopsy.
