Grandmother wants guardianship for insurance reasons, Should we give it to her?

I don't have a job right now so i can't provide insurance through work.

I still don't like the idea of turning over guardianship to the grandmother for fear that she would not return it to me and the mother. Not to mention just about everything I've read says not to do it for this reason.

We do not qualify for Medicaid because we live with our parents and their income is too high.

Dose anyone have advice?
How Hard would it be to get guardianship back?

I would recommend a temp guardianship, this has to be refiled every 6 months. This way the child does have medical insurances which is very important in case something happens as I know you know. But then if something comes up and you are able to care for her it would end after 6 months.
Also, you could do a written agreement with the grandmother that she would care for the child until set date that you are able to care for the child. That way it would cover your concerns.
Hope this helps, good luck~

Try and get some advice for getting insurance, etc. through somesort of children's aid. Even if the grandmother is honest and has no intention of taking the children away you should NEVER give up your rights as a parent.

It sounds to me like you are already hesitant to turn over temporary custody.

Trust your own instincts.

Very difficult. Please don't do it!!!
