Can I find or get my foster parents life insurance?

I was raised by foster parents...from day ONE till they died in the 1980's (I'm 52 now) they spoke of a life insurance policy...is there any way I can either find it or get it?

While even though they were your foster parents, if you weren't adopted or in a will, you will not get a single cent.

Know this because of past experience with atty involved with a family conflict.

Doubtful.
Insurance policies require claims to be made in a timely manner- 20 years would definitely not fall into that category.
Secondly, unless you were named a beneficiary on the policy it wouldn't do any good if you did find it.

No, first of all if you were not adopted then you cannot recover any kind of inheritance from their death unless they specified it in a will. (which I am assuming they did not). Second, life insurance policies do not fit probate law, which means that it does not matter who the heir of the deceased person is, just who the person wanted to be the beneficiary of the life insurance policy. When you get a policy they ask who you want to be the beneficiary and you must name someone. It is not put in a will and can only be changed if the person contacts their insurer and requests it. I'm assuming since they died in the 80's that person who they named as the beneficiary has already received the life insurance proceeds. Sorry.
