I had health insurance for a company they laid me off june19,2007 and my insurance was cancelled on june 16?

is this legal

I don't think that is legal. If you were employed until the 19th of June you should have had insurance coverage through the 19th of June. Not only that you could possibly be covered by COBRA, which means that they would have to allow you to continue your coverage as long as you pay the premiums.

If you were on a group health plan federal law requires that your employer offer you COBRA.

COBRA generally requires that group health plans sponsored by employers with 20 or more employees in the prior year offer employees and their families the opportunity for a temporary extension of health coverage (called continuation coverage) in certain instances where coverage under the plan would otherwise end.

Good Luck
