Are insurance companies required to cover water damage from fire?

Yes, we have fire insurance, but the insurance company is not wanting to pay for that.

The answer is - it depends on what is in your policy. In virtually every case, however, your propery insurer should cover water damage caused by (or resulting from) a fire.

Here's the way the policy (probably) works: The policy covers accidental damage to your property. It then EXCLUDES perils not covered (floods, nuclear explosions, etc.).

But it does not end there. The policy will often exclude water damage (floods), but covers fire damage.

The water damage was the "result" or "arose out of" a covered peril, and is therefore probably covered.

One would need to see the policy and know the particulars of your matter to determine the extent of coverage.

Good luck.

THOUGHT TAT WENT HAND IN HAND

Damage naturally resulting from a covered peril is covered. You may not have coverage for fire though.
