A lawyer I hired will not respond back to email or certified mail concerning my refund I'm asking back.?

I hired a lawyer in 2006 for a friends immigration case well it turned out to be a federal case, I already payed the lawyer for the immigration case since he told me it was clearly an immigration case, he called me in the next day and he told me it was federal and it would later turn into an immigration case so he needed a seperate fee, so then next I went ahead and payed him for the federal case...I have both receipts and a witness....Now since his fedreal case has been finished and the judge said immediate deportation after he finshes his federal time..we now know we never need to give him any money for an immigration case since he won't have one and even so we already fired him , I have asked for an itemized bill or any unearned fee, knowing he hasn't done nothing on the immigration case..he has shut down
communication with me and will not return any calls or mail concerning my refund for the immigration case. What should/could I do? Help

Go to the office and ask.

Welcome to the American legal sytem. If you file a suit to get your money back, the shyster will simply make up an itemized list of fictitious time and expenses that add up to more than you paid him, and he will demand the balance. The judge, being a lawyer himself, will side with the shyster. Getting a retainer back is basically impossible.

Just go down to his office and see him face to face, or tell the cops or something.

kick in his door and demand a refund. or take him to small claims court.

Why should he bother with you, it's from 2006! Your only recourse is to report him to the Bar Association and they may or may not take it up with him.
This I am sorry to say, is on you. Did you REALLY BELIEVE that an attorney could make an immigration case "go away"? You threw good money after bad and you are stuck for being blind to reality.
Sorry but he's going to keep your money and you are going to go on complaining about how unfairly you've been treated. HELLO you are now asking for money that you spent in 2006? I DON'T THINK SO!
